FORT WORTH, Texas -- Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary's (SWBTS) new master of arts in worship will emphasize contemporary worship and changing styles. The 48-hour degree is offered to those who have a bachelor's in music, according to a SWBTS news release.
SWBTS' praise team will carry academic credit, and a course in worship literature will be offered as part of the new degree, said Benjamin Harlan. Harlan is dean of the seminary's church music school. Harlan said several courses will address traditional performance areas.
The school will take extra care to show students they must evaluate the church and community before implementing a new worship style, Harlan said.
Free, two-day visits to the church music school can be scheduled by calling (800) SWBTS-01 or e-mailing email@example.com.
