I've never pastored a church, but Dr. Thom Rainer's research on good-to-great churches strikes a chord with me. Church Central Associates (CCA) is a ministry seeking to equip leaders like you, but in order to be effective, it must also be a solid business. At first I thought there was an inherent contradiction between the two.
"Activity is not necessarily productivity." Do you relate to this mantra like I do? We're most productive when our everyday tasks accomplish the mission of our ministries and businesses (you can read CCA's mission here).
If we focus on the external goal of changing people's lives, not just the tasks on our lists, we can more effectively achieve God's mission for his church.
As Dr. Thom Rainer writes in his weekly feature article, good-to-great pastors are able to handle the maintenance aspects of ministry, yet still set aside time and energy for outward focus.
This second in a series of three articles gives a sneak peek into what promises to be one of his most important books on the subject of church health.
God's blessings on your ministry!
