LOS ANGELES -- Online music service Liquid Audio Inc. is playing the Christian music market, offering digital downloads through online subscriptions, according to a company release.
Liquid Audio's "Burn It First" program lets users download Christian songs from EMI CMG's catalog under a deal the two companies signed last year. EMI is the world's largest Christian music company, and its artists include dcTalk, Steven Curtis Chapman, Newsboys, Audio Adrenaline, Stacie Orrico, Rebecca St. James, Avalon, Jump 5, ZOEgirl, Delirious, and Bishop TD Jakes.
Users pay $9.95 a month for the right to download 20 songs from www.BurnItFIRST.com, with an additional five songs available for $4.95. The 20 base credits expire at the end of each month, but add-on credits do not, according to the release.
Users can access exclusive content not currently available on CD, and can download full albums or individual tracks, according to EMI.
