Survey shows increase in Jewish synagogue affiliation

NEW YORK -- Although more U.S. Jewish families are affiliated with congregations than a decade ago, secularism is growing, according to the American Jewish Identity Survey 2001.

More than 1 million American Jewish households - 44 percent - are affiliated with a synagogue, up from 888,000 families 10 years ago, the survey reports.
