COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- A round-the-clock Internet-based prayer effort has been launched to link millions of intercessors around the globe, according to Charisma News Service.
The World Prayer Team effort is aimed at fulfilling the Great Commission, center president Ted Haggard said.
The task calls for "the most massive prayer movement in the history of the world, and the only way to do that is Internet based," he said.
Members can sign up for free online and will receive weekly e-mail prayer alerts, according to the report. Among the early prayer topics posted at the Web site, formally launched in December, were the need for peace in the Ivory Coast and a united evangelism effort by Boston-area churches.
The World Prayer Team is based at the World Prayer Center, a partnership between 9,000-member New Life Church and C. Peter Wagner's Global Harvest Ministries. Wagner's ministry is still based in the multimillion-dollar facility, but New Life has taken over the prayer center, according to the report.
