DENVER -- The Church as an institution is in trouble, according to the Rev. Ed Barron, Promise Keepers' vice president of U.S. ministries.
"Looking at the leadership of the church, one cannot overlook the needs of the most critical, and perhaps most embattled of professions, the pastor," Barron told ASSIST News Service.
Promise Keepers, which traditionally has held events targeted at men, is hosting a conference that Barron claims will encourage and challenge pastors and other church leaders.
"Come Near to Me," scheduled for Feb. 18-20 in Phoenix, will be a revival of sorts, according to Barron.
"Pastors and leaders can expect to be refreshed and encouraged," he said. "They can expect to hear from some great thinkers about the church of the 21st century. They can expect to discover some of the resources that already exist in the church. They can expect to come away more selfless about ministry, and more fearless about leadership in their communities."
Max Lucado, Tony Evans and Bruce Wilkinson are among the speakers scheduled for the event. Registration costs $195 per person and can be done online.
