MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- ViServ, a nationwide application service provider (ASP) for churches and other non-profit organizations, has named John Benza president and chief executive officer.
The company's founder and former CEO, William R. Smith, will transition to chief technical officer, focusing his efforts on product and market development, according to a news release.
Benza has 19 years of management and executive experience at IBM, where he last served as director of Internet delivery for IBM Global Services Western Region. He will continue to serve as director of ministry resources for a Christian church in Los Altos, Calif., according to the release.
"We are very excited to have someone of John's caliber and experience base leading the organization," ViServ's chairman, Chuck Ramey, said in the release.
Benza is a member of the National Association of Church Business Administration and the Christian Management Association.
Rather than installing a software program in a PC or network system, ViServ's clients pay a monthly fee to access the information through the Internet. ViServ's modules include relationship management, financial contributions recording, custom reports and mail merge capability along with unlimited classifications of families, individuals and organizations.
The company recently launched a free, 36-page guide in partnership with ChurchCentral.com that explains how Web-based applications can benefit ministries. A Web-based Approach to Church Management Software can be downloaded online.
