HUNGARY -- The International Christian Internet Church (ICIC), first launched in Hungarian, is now offering English language worship services, according to ASSIST News Service (ANS).
The Rev. Lazlo Banfi started Internet church services a year ago for those who couldn't attend a regular Christian church service for fear of persecution. Since then, about 36,000 people from 27 countries - including Saudi Arabia and China - have worshipped online, he said.
Banfi, who has preached for more than 25 years in Hungary, also wants to establish a prayer line for people around the world, but dealing with different time zones makes that difficult, he said.
"Perhaps in the future we can make this church an interactive family," Banfi told ANS. "We don't have a building, but we are alive in cyberspace and function as a virtual congregation."
