Church weddings still popular among brides

The majority of the 2.4 million American couples who will marry this year are going to the chapel for the special moment, BRIDE'S Magazine reports. Even as brides attempt to make the wedding a unique event, tradition reigns with 64 percent of couples nationwide marrying in a house of worship.

That number is higher in the Great Lakes region, where 73 percent will choose a church wedding, compared to 38 percent in the West, the report claims. Also of note: 61 percent of couples will omit the word "obey" from their vows.
