NASHVILLE -- Christ Church, a 3,500-member congregation in Nashville, will spend $15 million to construct a 120,000-square-foot education and multipurpose building.
According to the Nashville Business Journal, Solomon Builders Inc., also from Nashville, won the contract for the project, which calls for an adjacent parking lot and extensive building renovations to other parts of the church.
Solomon has created a niche for itself in church construction in Nashville. The company built the $25 million, high-profile Convenant Presbyterian Church in the city's Green Hills suburb.
Ty Osman, Solomon Builders president, told the Journal the Christ Church bidding process was different from other construction projects he's worked on, because the congregation had its financing in place before putting the job out to bid.
Dave Johnston of architectural and design firm Susman Tisdale Gayle is advising the church through the construction process and will act as the project's program manager. Bill Shelton is the architect, Gresham Smith & Partners is providing civil engineering services.
Groundbreaking should occur in early 2003, and the job is scheduled for completion in late 2004.
