INDIANAPOLIS -- With just more than 60 out of 1,700 churches reporting, Wesleyan congregations reached 612 new believers during the denomination's annual Heaven Week celebration Oct. 6-13.
Heaven Week is an intense sharing of the gospel that has generated more conversions for the denomination than all other activities combined (See story: Heaven Week celebration sees more people coming to Christ).
Wesleyan churches across the country average 450 conversions on Sundays, said Ray Barnwell, the denomination's general director of Sunday school and discipleship ministries. Four times as many people find Christ during Heaven Week, Barnwell said. Last year the denomination reported nearly 1,700 conversions during the celebration.
Churches that have yet to do so may file their reports online.
