SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Assemblies of God (A/G) outreach program Royal Rangers is celebrating its 40th anniversary of discipling boys. National Royal Rangers week, which begins Oct. 6, will focus on raising Godly young men, according to a news release.
"With the way society is today, there is a minimal number of Godly male role models," said Jerry Parks, A/G's national Web and publications coordinator. "It is extremely important for boys to have godly role models and our commanders are chosen for that purpose. This program helps prepare boys spiritually, socially, and also trains them to be the future leaders in our churches."
Parks estimates that in the course of the 40 years of Royal Rangers, more than 1 million boys have passed through the program. Boys earn merit badges for various accomplishments, Parks said.
