• Most Americans say they pray regularly

BOSTON -- Fewer than half of Americans regularly attend religious services, but more than 60 percent claim to pray at least once each day.

A third who prayed regularly said they did so more often following last year's terrorist attacks, according to a poll by The Christian Science Monitor. More than 60 percent of those surveyed said the tragedy did not impact how often they prayed.

Fewer than a third of the more than 900 adults surveyed said the Sept. 11, 2001, events boosted their interest in participating in interfaith services. The poll included questions asked Aug. 5-9 and Sept. 3-8, and had a 3.3 percentage-point margin of error.
