DALLAS -- Texas Baptists are considering the creation of a network that will help churches send missionaries anywhere in the world. The proposed network would be a not-for-profit affiliate of the Baptist General Convention of Texas (BGCT), according to a news release from the organization.
"Texas Baptists are interested in a bold new vision, not recreating what already exists through traditional missions sending agencies," said Charles Wade, BGCT's executive director.
Under the proposal, the network will provide a database of needs and opportunities, strategy planning, cultural training and field assistance. The network will work closely with existing Baptist missions agencies, including the Southern Baptist Convention International Mission Board and North American Mission Board, Baptist World Alliance and Cooperative Baptist Fellowship Global Missions.
Messengers to the annual BGCT meeting Nov. 10-11 in Waco, Texas, will vote on the proposal.
