The Huntsville Times: United Methodist Bishop William Willimon of the North Alabama Conference knows change can be good and bad.

So, the two trains of thought have Willimon teetering on the fence as he faces his first meeting next week as the spiritual leader of the North Alabama Conference of the United Methodist Church.

Since his appointment as bishop last year, Willimon, 59, has spent a great deal of time meeting the pastors and members of North Alabama's Methodist churches.

At next week's conference meeting at Birmingham-Southern College, he plans to introduce a goal for each congregation in the conference: A 5 percent increase in Sunday morning attendance.
