SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Assemblies of God (A/G) is better positioning its leaders to take advantage of the government's faith-based initiatives and other funding opportunities. The denomination's grant-writing operations will move to Washington, D.C., this fall, according to the A/G News Service.
The new Office of A/G Charities will help the Springfield, Mo.-based denomination share results from its various ministry programs with politicians while lobbying for increased resources, according to the News Service.
"The potential for this new office is enormous," A/G General Superintendent Thomas E. Trask said. "I believe it's a significant step forward for the Assemblies of God."
John Bongiorno, executive vice president for external relations for the denomination's Financial Services Group, will manage the office.
