NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The United Methodist Church is encouraging teens to log on and sound off. The denomination's Shared Mission Focus on Young People has launched www.idreamachurch.com, an online forum for youth to share ideas for the church's future, according to the United Methodist News Service.
The site gives teens an opportunity to have a voice in the Church, said Gerald "Jay" Williams, co-leader of the Shared Mission Focus team.
"We want people to express some of the hopes and dreams that you don't normally express at a church council meeting, some of the thoughts that you have for the church after you're leaving Sunday worship," he said. "You know, some of the ideas that you have for the Body of Christ when you're in the shower and there's no one to listen."
The denomination is promoting the site through jurisdictional youth gatherings this summer.
