The Daily Reflector: As the season of holiday feasts approaches, some Greenville, N.C., residents stopped Nov. 14 to think about those who have no food to look forward to.
About 200 people, mostly groups from local churches, donned their walking shoes Sunday afternoon for the 17th annual Greater Greenville CROP Walk.
CROP walks, held throughout the nation, are the primary fund-raisers for Church World Service, a cooperative ministry of 36 Protestant, Orthodox and Anglican denominations. The ministry provides assistance to those in need across the world.
Organizers of the local walk hoped to raised $20,000 but didn't know Sunday if they had reached that goal. Twenty-five percent of whatever amount was raised will go to four local hunger-fighting agencies.
