The Kentucky Post: The 300 former members of First Baptist Church of Cold Spring, Ky., founded Christ Baptist last spring. And now they have hired their first pastor.
The group left First Baptist over concerns about what happened to more than $500,000 in church funds, and evidence of ATM withdrawals of church money at local horseracing tracks. An FBI investigation is ongoing.
First Baptist, with the Rev. Larry Davis as pastor, was one of the biggest and fastest-growing Baptist churches in Northern Kentucky until January, when the financial questions surfaced and some members considered breaking away.
Several months later, they did just that.
It began with informal worship services on Sunday afternoons, and culminated April 4 in a vote to incorporate Christ Baptist Church, and to elect a nine-member board of trustees.
