St. Petersburg Times: TAMPA, Fla.ââ¬â The book hit Christian stores 11 years ago: "Woman, Thou Art Loosed: Healing the Wounds of the Past." Then came the annual Woman, Thou Art Loosed conferences, with tens of thousands of women listening to sermons about releasing old pains and bitterness, about letting go of dead-weight men and becoming the virtuous women God intended.
The phenomenon is the work of Bishop T.D. Jakes of The Potter's House church in Dallas. He also released a "Woman, Thou Art Loosed" CD and the "Woman, Thou Art Loosed" stage play, which traveled theaters in 1999.
Now, the movie is showing in more than 400 theaters across the country and opened at No. 6 at the box office, with sales of $2.5-million.
