WASHINGTON ââ¬â Two views of the role of faith in electoral politics will be debated in upcoming National Public Radio broadcasts, according to a National Council of Churches report. The debate will air beginning today, Sept. 27, and continue to air over the next two weeks.
According to the NCC, in sharing his deeply held religious beliefs with the American people, President Bush has said his actions, and the nation's, are guided by higher principles. Opponents charge he is fanning the flames of division and some tactics are inappropriate in a democratic republic.
What, if any, voice should faith communities have in electoral year politics?
National Council of Churches General Secretary Bob Edgar and Dr. Billy McCormack, a founding board member of the Christian Coalition, debate that question on the next edition of "Justice Talking," to air on more than 90 National Public Radio stations nationwide. More information is available in local listings. The program is also available at www.justicetalking.org after 4 p.m. (eastern) Sept. 27.
