WRAL.com: Crime happening in a local county, over and over again, has people asking: Who would steal from a church, and why?

This summer, Sampson County is averaging a church break-in every three days, forcing some churches to put bars on their doors.

Hickory Baptist Church in Sampson County has been robbed three times since July 4, when its sound board was lifted.

"About two days later, they stole it again," Pastor Johnny Armstrong said. "And about two weeks ago, they stole the microphones to the sound system.

"They also stole the VCR and TV. We use that for Sunday school. It's now gone."
