Accused pastor cleared of abuse charges by archdiocese

Associated Press: Rev. John P. Schreiter, a Milwaukee, Wis., pastor, was welcomed back to his parish ministry Aug. 6, after the Milwaukee Archdiocese cleared him of sexual abuse charges. The priest was accused in April of abuse that allegedly occured in another parish, 24 years earlier. Peter Isely, a regional representative of the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, said the group hopes the ruling will not dissuade victims from coming forward, but will encourage priests concerned about the fairness of the system.
