SILVER SPRING, Maryland -- The Seventh-day Adventist Church is turning to high-tech evangelism in Africa, according to the Adventist News Network (ANN).
More than 1,200 DVD players will be distributed to each African church that participated in last year's "Africa for Christ" event. The three-week satellite evangelism series was broadcast internationally by Adventist Television Network in Tanzania.
The DVD project, "New Beginnings," presents Adventist beliefs and is intended for use by lay people, pastors and evangelists, according to ANN. Adventist-layman's Services and Industries (ASI) sponsors the project and purchased the DVD players.
Similar DVD projects have been successful in India and the Philippines, ASI secretary Dwight Hilderbrandt said.
