PASADENA, Calif.--The Greater Los Angeles Billy Graham Crusade will be postponed due to the failing health of the world-renowned evangelist. According to Assist News Service, leaders announced they will reschedule the summer Crusade at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena from July 29-August 1 to November 18-21, 2004.
Meanwhile Kansas City is moving forward with the Heart of America Billy Graham Crusade, set for June 17-20 at Arrowhead Stadium. Positive reports from Graham's doctors about the success of a procedure to stabilize a pelvic fracture he suffered at his home recently and creative accommodations for the speaker in Kansas City led to the decision to keep to the schedule there.
"Reverend Graham is doing great," said Dr. C. Michael LeCroy, M.D., orthopedic traumatologist of Asheville, N.C. Following the medical procedure, LeCroy said Graham was "recovering nicely."
The Kansas City committee voted unanimously to move forward with the crusade. Richard Hastings, Kansas City crusade chair, said they want Graham to keep his speaking engagement there "that is currently supported by nearly 750 churches."
The same number of churches are also planning for the Southern California crusade. The new dates for the crusade there coincide with the dates of the historic 1949 Los Angeles Crusade that launched Graham's ministry into international prominence.
