LONDON – Singing and drumming at The Celestial Church of Christ Revelation Parish has brought complaints from the southeast London church's neighbors.
BBC News reports that residents in the area have complained to Lewisham West councillors who are now considering whether to close down the church.
The church has been holding services in their building, which is on a residential street, since October. But residents claim the noise of services goes on well into Sunday night.
Church members say the services are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Shepherd Festtus Okelola, from the church, told BBC London he does not know why local residents are upset.
"On Sundays we only drum when we are doing the thanksgiving, that's when we do the praise and worship and it doesn't last more than 45 minutes – one hour maximum," he said.
"Normally we don't drum until about half past twelve."
