LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Presbyterians will host Christian and Muslim leaders from around the world this summer as they discuss interfaith relations. The "Interfaith Listening" project was created in response to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, according to the Presbyterian News Service.
Ten teams will visit the United States Sept. 10-23 to test a model for learning through interfaith and intercultural dialogue, according to the Presbyterian News Service.
Each team will include one Christian from a Presbyterian Church (USA) partner overseas and one Muslim. The teams - from Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Italy, Kenya, Jordan, Lebanon, Niger and the Philippines - will meet with PC(USA) congregations and presbyteries around the country.
The PC(USA) endorsed a policy in 1983 that calls for dialogue with people of other faiths.
