NASHVILLE, Tenn.--A new book from LifeWay, "Discovering the Biblical Jesus," may help answer any questions raised in the new film "The Passion of The Christ." Publishers are guessing that once the film opens Feb. 25, millions of Americans will be wondering who Jesus is.
"Discovering the Biblical Jesus," written by Daniel L. Akin, president of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C., clarifies Christian doctrine, but also relates to life.
David Haney, an editor at LifeWay, said the book could be a follow up witnessing tool.
The "Passion" film promised to be a witness, showing the Gospel story to people who may be considering Christ for the first time."When we planned this doctrine study, we had no idea that the movie was being conceived or that its release would coincide with the book," Haney said. "That's something God did.
"Discovering the Biblical Jesus will equip individual believers and churches to respond to the questions unbelievers will have after watching the movie.
"The question Jesus asked 2,000 years ago - 'Who do you say I am?' - is still the fundamental question of life," Haney said. He encouraged churches to use the book to ensure believers know who Jesus is and can explain their faith.
