NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Holy Trinity Episcopal Church is making itself a home away from home for the area's Hispanic immigrants.
The church began reaching out to the growing population of illegal immigrants two years ago, inviting them in for food and comfort, according to the Tennessean. Holy Trinity now offers a weekly service Wednesday afternoons that includes an authentic Mexican lunch, a bi-lingual church service, and an invitation to hang around that evening and watch a Spanish-language TV comedy.
Nearly 150 men visited last year's services at least once, said Judy Grace, who organizes the weekly gathering.
Many of the men are homeless, Grace told the Tennessean, and all of them need emotional support. Local homeless shelters also help the men, Grace said, but the church offers them a comfortable place to worship and renew their faith.
