NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Twelve projects addressing youth concerns will receive grants through programs related to the United Methodist Board of Discipleship, according to the United Methodist News Service.
The projects, which range from a Korean church discipleship project in Oregon to the organization of a national district youth council in Latvia, were chosen from 68 applications. They will be funded through the denomination's Shared Mission Focus on Young People initiative, which is distributing up to $125,000 each year through 2004 for projects related to youth and young adults.
The projects include:
- Abrazos de Amor, La Trinidad United Methodist Church, San Antonio, $12,000.
- Disciples in the Streets, Broadway Christian Parish United Methodist Church, South Bend, Ind., $12,000.
- Jubilee Youth Ministry, Miami Valley United Methodist Mission Society, Dayton, Ohio, $12,000.
- Nurturing Ministries, New England Annual Conference, Lawrence, Mass., $12,000.
- OIMC Regional Consultants, Oklahoma Indian Missionary Conference, $12,000.
- Reaching Out to Young Adults, Trinity United Methodist Church, Denver, $12,000.
- United Methodist Cooperative, Little Rock, Ark., $12,000.
- Discipleship Training for the Institute for Discipleship at Southwestern College, Winfield, Kan., $10,000.
- Making Disciples of Jesus Christ, Rizal District UMYAF, Marikina City, Manila, Philippines, $9,000.
- Crave, Christ United Methodist Church, Fairfax Station, Va., $7,500.
- Latvia National District Youth Council, Estonia Annual Conference, $5,000.
- Mission Possible, Grace Korean United Methodist Church, Beaverton, Ore., $5,000.
